I am writing this in support of Barry Jackson and ask that you vote for him for Rockville City Council.

I’ve had the pleasure of knowing Barry since 2015 when we served together on the American Heart Association/American Stroke Association’s National Advisory Committee. I observed his passion and commitment for improving post-discharge care for stroke survivors. His own experience was not only impactful but also pivotal in advocating for improvements in stroke survivor transitions of care and associated policy.

I have since worked with Barry the last several years on a large multi-hospital clinical research study where he was asked by the physician Principal Investigator, a nationally known vascular neurologist at Vanderbilt University, to serve as the Co-Principal Investigator of the study. Much to his credit, to date, he is the only stroke survivor to serve in this capacity on a large, multi-million dollar clinical trial.

Over the last nine years, I have come to know Barry personally as a giving and compassionate family man. I appreciate his passion and commitment to his family and the community in which he lives. His perspective, whether stroke survivors or his fellow community members, embraces diversity and his focus always reflects what is in the best interests of those he is representing.

Barry has the leadership experience and kind demeanor to work collaboratively with fellow councilors and others in the best interest of Rockville residents. He’s a practical-minded leader and I know will help guide Rockville into the future.
