Before you vote - how do the candidates approach governing. What are their beliefs?
Here are mine:
Safety - Rockville currently has a well-trained, diverse and responsive police force. We should be proactive in looking for ways to increase our communities relationship to the police department and proactive in ensuring that the police have all the tools they need to remain a solid and well-trained force at the forefront of cutting-edge policing like integrating mental health interventions in their policing practices.
Affordability - Whether you are a senior or a young person the issue of affordability matters. We can't be the Rockville we want to be if we don't do more so that everyone can afford to live and work in Rockville.
Equity, Diversity & Inclusion - To move Rockville into a safe, affordable and prosperous future we need to have broad representation. That means having diversity of all types - including geographical diversity. We can't move forward unless we all have a stake and a seat at the table.
Livable Communities - I've been involved in building Rockville's Neighbor Villages which are a way for seniors and others to come together and age in place. These concepts are important to more than seniors - everyone should benefit from making Rockville a more livable place.
Transparency - We deserve a Rockville where decisions are made openly and after public debate. We should be able to get the information behind those decisions in a readily accessible and timely manner.
Communication & Engagement - I firmly believe in communicating all that the City and Mayor and Council are doing. Whether on the website, in a newsletter, mail or by getting out to communities more communication is key to residents being engaged and involved. And I believe communication goes both ways. I welcome debates and the sharing of ideas in any format - whether it is Council meetings, Town Hall forums or individuals sharing their views.
